Op 10 juli waren we te gast bij Susanne in Kaulille. Zij woont samen met haar man en 2 kinderen in een oudere woning waar nog heel wat aan opgeknapt moet worden. Maar we kwamen voor de tuin en daar hebben we van genoten. Ze legde ons de principes van Permacultuur uit en prikkelde ons om na te denken over diverse levensmiddelen die we moesten plaatsen in de cirkels Aarde, Mens of Delen.
Sinds 2 jaar is zij haar tuin aan het omvormen tot een permacultuur tuin. Er is al veel werk verzet. De kippen en konijnen hebben een plaatsje gekregen en ook de fruitbomen en bessenstruiken. Er zijn verhoogde bedden in cirkels met diverse groenten en er wordt gewerkt aan een vijver.

Op zaterdag 2 juli organiseerde Albert, boswachter van StrijpS, een guerilla gardening actie om (eetbaar) groen te planten tussen de bomen die daar eerder zijn neergezet. Een paviljoen volgt over een paar weken.
Via tuincentrum Klerks uit Oisterwijk en tuincentrum Soontiëns in Eindhoven, had Albert plantjes gekregen. Denk daarbij aan tomatenplantjes, gourgettes, auberbines, pepers en paprika. Daarnaast was er ook volop zaad.
Transition Town had het bericht van de actie verspreid. Waardoor er voldoende handen waren om rond 15.00 uur af te kunnen ronden.
Nu maar hopen dat er voldoende regen valt om alles mooi te laten groeien.
2 juli jl. vertoonden we tijdens de filmavond in Meerhoven de film Vanishing of the Bees (in het Engels). De opkomst was bescheiden. De film is echt een aanrader.

Filming across the US, in Europe, Australia and Asia, this documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the greater meaning it holds about the relationship between mankind and mother earth. As scientists puzzle over the cause, organic beekeepers indicate alternative reasons for this tragic loss. Conflicting options abound and after years of research, a definitive answer has not been found to this harrowing mystery.
